The city of Newport Beach and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian have joined to help rejuvenate the Oasis Senior Center, which is seeking a renovation as it approaches its 60th birthday.

Officials from the city and hospital have partnered with Friends of Oasis, a nonprofit organization created to support the senior center, to form a building fund committee to raise money for the upgrade. Former Newport Beach Mayor Evelyn Hart and Hoag community medicine director Gwyn Parry are co-chairs of the committee.

Hart said the committee would work to raise funds through private donations, grant-writing and events.
