Victory in Canada keeps Lopes on top

Laguna Beach resident Brian Lopes won the final heat of a World Cup mountain bike competition at Mont Ste. Anne, Quebec City, Canada, last weekend, to solidify his position as points leader in the 2007 World Cup Series.

The three-time world and nine-time national champion qualified third and then finished ahead of Scott Beaumont, Filip Polc, Kamil Tartarkovic and Jared Graves to win the final heat.

Lopes has two remaining World Cup events to race in Austria and Slovenia.
