Storm captures division

The Strom closed strong in their showdown against Philadelphia in the championship match of the Patrick Division postseason playoffs, and used that finish to post a 6-2 title-clinching victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

The Storm led, 2-1, after the first period but pulled away from there and sealed the win by outscoring Philadelphia, 2-0, in the final period.

Dylan Miller led the Storm offense with three goals and two assists. Aaron Baca-Chavez and Eric Schilb each had a goal and assist and Tov Johnson scored once. Max Olin and Michael Gutierrez also had assists.

Tim Francis recorded 21 saves.

Stephen White scored both goals for Philadelphia.

Wales Division

Warriors 5, Ice Dogs 3

Conner Richard scored twice and had an assist and the Warriors never trailed in defeating the Ice Dogs.

Brad Murchison had a goal and assist, Jason Lally and Matthew Bennett both scored and Levi Duren had an assist to compete the Warriors’ offense.

Jonathan Cao finished with 28 saves.

Ian Marzoff scored twice and Matthew Moore had a goal and two assists to lead the Ice Dogs. Troy Baljeu was in on two assists and Jayce Borski had 31 saves.

Smythe Division

Young Americans 5, Renegades 3

The Young Americans scored the final two goals of the match to win the title.

Alex Kao scored twice and had an assist, Austin Mellema had a goal and assist, Nathan May and Cannon Kunichika both scored, Andrwe Schenker had an assist and Ethan Higbee came up with 22 saves.

Karson Derego, Stuart Urbano and Brandon Foster scored for the Renegades. Jordan Derego and Tyler Wilford each had an assist and Sam Prizler recorded 32 saves.

Campbell Division

Puckhogs 7, Kings 1

The Puckhogs led wire-to-wire en route to the championship.

The offense was paced by Amanda Vongries who scored three goals to go along with an assist and Dylan Reightley who scored twice. Trent Berkenkamp scored once and assisted two goals, Matthew Legrand scored once and Brandon Ha had a pair of assists.

Chris Hernandez recorded 23 saves.

Jordan Reichenbach scored the lone Kings’ goal and Tyler Gealy gathered 35 saves.

Howe Division

Blue Diamonds 3, Hornets 2

Two goals in the final period lifted the Blue Diamonds from a 2-1 deficit to a one-goal victory over the Hornets.

Kyle Skitco and Lukas Welinder scored in the third period to put the Blue Diamonds ahead to stay. Welinder finished with two goals and Skitco, Marcus Kurth and Conner Reeves all had assists.

Jack Miller finished with 30 saves.

Both Hornets goals were scored by Brandon White and each was assisted by Savannah Patton. Sean Mastro had 24 saves.
