Furniture shop hosts celebrity retreat

Modern Studio Furnishings in Laguna Beach hosted the celebrity retreat for the BET Awards held recently at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The furniture shop owners styled the retreat with “mod” furnishings, slick lighting and a one-of-a-kind armless sofa chaise, which was created to hold the signatures of the likes of Patti La Belle, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.

The “signature” sofa chaise lounge will be auctioned off on Charity folks.com with the proceeds going to the BET Foundation.

“Modern Studio Furnishings is proud to be involved and support such a worthwhile cause,” said Mike Embury, president.

Ward fashions at Mandarin Fine Art

Laguna Beach fashion designer Sandie Ward debuted her designs for woman at Mandarin Fine Art Gallery in Laguna Beach on May 19.

Eight models strutted with a backdrop of contemporary art from China, as a standing-room-only crowd of 200 gathered to benefit the Friendship Shelter.
