Rescue workers pulled the body of a man in his 20s from the water Friday afternoon.

A lifeguard saw the man in distress at about 4:40 p.m., called for help and went in to try to rescue him, Lt. Craig Bryant said. The lifeguards in the water, with help from rescue workers in a helicopter, eventually managed to find him at about 5:40 p.m., but when they dragged him ashore it was too late.

Authorities were working Friday night to determine the man’s identity, but they think he was about 20 and was from Temple City, Bryant said.
