AROUND TOWN:Third annual ‘Bub-A-Que’ to benefit Kapko fund

The Kapko family and friends will gather at 3 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at Angels Stadium for the third annual “Bub-A-Que” in memory of Brian Kapko, who was killed in a car accident Aug. 28, 2005.

Kapko, who was 19, was a Costa Mesa native and a big Angels fan, and soon after his death a group of his friends went to a game in his honor.

All money raised from the tailgating event goes to the Brian Kapko Foundation, which boosts community causes including Estancia High School scholarships and support for the athletic programs there.

The Angels vs. Texas game starts at 6:05 p.m. and the foundation has tickets available.

Cost for the event is $45 and includes game ticket, T-shirt and food catered by Newport Rib Company. For information, e-mail mattkapko@gmail.com.
