‘Dive-in’ movie screening at high school’s pool

You’ve heard of a drive-in movie. Well, how about a “dive-in” movie?

Newport Beach’s Recreation and Senior Services Department invites children of all ages and their families to grab a raft and come down to the pool from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Newport Harbor High School for a “dive-in” screening of the movie “Happy Feet.”

Visitors can watch the movie on a 16-foot jumbo screen from their floating seat, which will need to be inspected by management staff before it will be allowed in the pool.

Food and beverages, including barbecued hot dogs, will be available to buy.

Movie fans will have a chance to decide for themselves if it’s safe to go back in the water when “Jaws” is shown at the pool on July 27.
