Orange Crush Demolition Derby

Those seeking true knockabout entertainment can head to the seventh annual Orange Crush Demolition Derby at the OC Register Arena. In this event, held at 3 and 8 p.m. today, drivers will ram each other until only one car is left running. The show is free with regular fair admission.

There are few things more hair-raising than watching a man balance upside down on one hand on top of a 20-foot stack of chairs. For the Peking Acrobats, though, it’s all in a day’s work. The Chinese troupe visits the fair regularly to juggle, ride unicycles, turn flips and, in general, defy the laws of physics. Shows are 5, 7 and 9 p.m. daily on the Plaza Arts Stage.

Earth, Wind and Fire

“Shining Star,” “September,” “Sing a Song” — this Chicago funk band’s many hits are familiar to anyone who regularly listens to oldies radio. The groove will begin at 7 p.m. today at the Pacific Amphitheatre, with tickets ranging from $29.50 to $65.
