Whoever is responsible at the Daily Pilot for writing the editorial (“Jail checks raise certain concerns,” July 8) needs to have his or her head examined!

It shows an audacious and uncaring attitude for our country to write “what if nonviolent criminals are being deported?” The answer is yes! Yes! Of course any “criminals and their families” too, as the rest of the author’s article goes on to say, should be forced to leave our shores! Under similar circumstances, would you be allowed stay in their country?

It is unfathomable for the Pilot to print this article at all!

Surely this will not be the only response the Daily Pilot will have to your newspaper’s outrageous article!

Church drags its feet on child sex abuse

It’s sad but not shocking to see yet another child sex abuse case charging deceit by Orange County Catholic officials (“Church accused of abuse silence,” June 11).

Despite repeated promises to be open about child molesting church employees, the hierarchy continues to drag its feet and hide its secrets.

When Orange Bishop Tod Brown settled dozens of lawsuits several years ago, some felt this would usher in a new day of transparency, but Brown’s cover-up has dashed those hopes. Catholic officials keep putting the protection of their reputations above the safety of their flock.
