City to host abandoned vessels auction Friday

The City of Newport Beach, Harbor Resources Division will host an abandoned vessel auction Friday.

Items for sale to the highest bidder include: an inflatable canoe, a peddle boat, skiffs, kayaks, dinghies and sailboats.

Viewing of the vessels will take place between 8 and 9 a.m. at the Orange County Sheriff, Harbor Department at 1901 Bayside Drive.

The Harbor Department will retain the vessels following the auction for a 10-day redemption period before the vessels are released to the winning bidder.

The city hosts an abandoned vessel auction about four times a year.
