Major bragging rights on line in All-Star matchup

The All-Star Major Division teams from the Costa Mesa American and National Little Leagues will start their battle in the Mayor’s Cup a best-of-three series today at 5:30 p.m. at TeWinkle Intermediate.

The CMNLL All-Stars appear to be the favorite after their run to the championship game of the District 62 Tournament last week. They also open today on their home diamond.

The second game will be at the CMALL field at Costa Mesa High Wednesday, also at 5:30 p.m. If necessary, the deciding game will be at TeWinkle Saturday at 10 a.m.

Costa Mesa American have won the past two Mayor’s Cup titles and five overall. Before that CMNLL had captured four in a row and have five overall since its inception in 1997.
