Edison youth hoops camp begins Monday

Local youth will have the opportunity to learn the basketball in a fun and positive atmosphere at the Edison Basketball Youth Camp, which gets underway Monday at Edison High.

The camp runs through July 27.

Co-sponsored by PCH Hoops, campers will be instructed in the fundamentals of the game by coaches from Edison and other area high schools.

Campers will receive their own ball to keep at the conclusion of the camp and also will be entered in daily raffle drawings.

The camp, in its eighth year, is open to third- through eighth-graders and will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily.

The cost is $120 per camper. Registration may be taken at the door if space is still available.

Lil’ Oilers Cheer camp begins July 31

Huntington Beach High School Cheer and Dance will host its first Lil’ Oilers Cheer Camp July 31-Aug. 2.

The camp is open to youngsters in kindergarten through fifth and will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily at Dwyer Middle School.

The Huntington Beach High cheer and dance squads will be teaching some of their routines and inviting the campers to cheer at a Oilers home varsity football game in the fall.

The cost is $100 per camper if registered before the start of the camp. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt, snacks and a framed photo of each camper with their cheerleader instructor.

Sluggers baseball camp opens Monday

The Huntington Beach-based Sluggers Summer Baseball Camps opens its doors Monday with the second of four camps at Ocean View High.

The camp runs through July 26.

The camps are open to ages 8 to 12 and will focus on all aspects of baseball, combining team fundamentals and individualized position instruction.

In August, weekly camp dates are Aug. 13-16 and Aug. 27-30.

The cost per camper is $225 for one week and $400 for two weeks of instruction.

All players should wear proper baseball attire, bring water and a sack lunch.

Ocean View High is at Warner Avenue and Gothard Street.
