Local volleyball players on TV today

The Orange County Volleyball Club 18-and-under team, which includes, local players Katie Wells, Kasey Kipp, Alex Penewell, Jamie Heenan, Alesha Young, Mary Buckingham, Megan Munce and Megan Toman, will be featured on Fox Sports Net today at 3 p.m.

The team won the Volleyball Festival’s National Invitation Championship, defeating Golden West Volleyball Club on July 7 in Reno, Nev.

Wells and Toman are Newport Harbor High graduates. Young, Penewell, Heenan, and Munce will be seniors at Harbor, where Buckingham will be a junior.

Kipp graduated from Corona del Mar High.

They won, 25-23, with a sudden-death one-game final over Golden West.

The match will also be aired on Sunday at 1 p.m. and July 28 at 5 p.m. For more TV listings of the match go to www.volleyball-festival.com.

The OCVBC’s 12s team, which included Katie Senske, finished fifth at the Volleyball Festival. The 13s finished sixth and had Sydney Raguse.

The 14s, featuring Cinnamon Sary, Hailey Senske and Sarah Craig, finished seventh. And, the 16s team, which included Madison Smith, finished 10th.
