Gallery hosts Live Earth murals

Endangered Planet Gallery, 384 Forest Ave., Suite 13, is showing a 10--by-5- mural, “Live Earth,” painted by Art Miles Mural Project co-founder and director Joanne Tawfilis, which made its worldwide debut at the Live Earth concert at Giant Stadium in New York on July 7.

The mural was painted for the event following an invitation from Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection.

Beginning Aug. 2, the gallery will present a rotating display of environmentally themed Art Miles banners, including the “Live Earth” mural.

The 10-year project in support of UNESCO will exhibit in Egypt at the pyramids in 2010, with 12 miles of murals created around the world being joined together.

Endangered Planet founder Charles Michael Murray was appointed to be the project’s Environmental Mile director earlier this year.

Different murals will be displayed each week at his gallery through Sept. 31, including a new mural that will be created at this year’s Burning Man festival.
