UC Irvine pitcher Scott Gorgen, who helped lead the Anteaters to their first College World Series appearance, has been added to the Team USA roster.

North Carolina State lefthander Eric Surkamp and lefthander/outfielder Tyler Stovall of Hokes Bluff High of Alabama have also been added, following the departure of pitchers Jacob Thompson (Virginia), Lance Lynn (Mississippi and Brian Matusz (San Diego), who decided to leave to avoid heavy workloads, according to a Team USA release.

Gorgen, a third-team All-American, is the third representative of the Big West Conference as infielder Danny Espinosa (Long Beach State) and pitcher Joe Kelley (UC Riverside) are also members of the 22-man roster.

Gorgen posted a 13-3 record and held a 2.83 ERA for the Anteaters. The right-hander struck out 117 in 136 2/3 innings and pitched six complete games, including three complete-game shutouts. Gorgen went the distance against Texas in the Round Rock Regional to earn all-tournament honors and finished third nationally in wins, 22nd in strikeouts and 80th in ERA.

Team USA suffered a 2-1 loss Wednesday against China, but leads 2-1 in the five game series. USA is next slated to take on the Netherlands and Russia beginning Saturday in North Carolina.
