Tennis pro authors children’s book of poetry

Author and tennis pro Cari Garfield will be signing her book of children’s poetry, “After All, I’m Just A Ball,” from noon to 3 p.m. today at Wonderland Bakery, 1314 Bison Ave., Newport Beach.

Garfield, a tennis instructor at Palisades Tennis Club, describes her second book as a “guessing book for children — each ball comes to life and the kids have to guess which one it is.”

Sondra and Allyson Ames, founders of Wonderland, are excited to feature Garfield, who is one of their clients, at their first book-signing event.

The bakery will be offering cupcakes and cookies decorated to match each of the balls in Garfield’s book.
