Park closing intermittently to install light poles
Costa Mesa’s Bark Park will close intermittently starting Aug. 13 so lights can be installed for nighttime use, city officials said.
Board members for the nonprofit foundation that maintains the park were worried poles in the middle of the park would be an obstacle for dogs and their owners; city officials said light wouldn’t reach the center of the park if all the poles were around the perimeter. As of Tuesday, both parties agreed on where several poles should go, but one was still in question.
The foundation’s annual dog-washing fundraiser, “Bath’Stille Day,” will be Aug. 11, as scheduled, and installation of the lights should begin the following week. The contractor will open the park when not working, and signs will be posted giving closure dates.
