They know they have game. Now, they’ll see how their game measures up to the top junior tennis players in the country.

Four Corona del Mar High tennis players will be playing this weekend in the USTA National Championships, held at various sites around the country.

The Sea Kings’ Fabian Matthews and Chris Damion are headed to Michigan. Meanwhile, CdM’s Melissa Matsuoka and Hailey Hogan will be in San Diego, along with Newport Coast’s Jungyeun Lee.

In addition, Costa Mesa resident Nelly Radeva and Newport Beach’s Ali Walters will be in the girls’ 18 National Championships in Berkeley. Costa Mesa resident Chris Freeman will also play in Michigan.

The boys’ 18s and 16s National Championships, held at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mi., begin Friday and runs through Aug. 12. The 18s draw features Matthews, who will be a senior at CdM this fall.

Matthews, ranked No. 9 in boys’ 18 singles in the latest USTA Southern California rankings, has a boys’ 18s first-round match against Casey Cullen of Beverly Hills, Mi.

The winner of that match advances to a second-round match against No. 14-seeded Reid Carleton of Naples, Fla.

Damion and Freeman, whose 16s tournament is held at the same site in Kalamazoo, both have first-round byes. Freeman, who attends Mater Dei High, will play either Nick Chappell of Indianapolis or Nathan Pasha of Atlanta in the second round.

Damion, who will be a junior at CdM, will face either Dan Richardson of Owens Crossroads, Ala. or Matthew Feeley of Arlington, Va. in the second round.

Meanwhile, Matsuoka, Hogan and Lee will be playing at the USTA Girls’ 14s National Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.

Matsuoka and Lee have matches in the Round of 256 of the tournament, which begins Sunday. Matsuoka will play Allison Hodges of Germantown, Tenn. on Sunday at 10 a.m., while Lee faces Julia Allen of Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Hogan, who like Matsuoka will be a sophomore at CdM, has a first-round bye. She faces either Jessica Stiles of Wyckoff, N.J. or Della Taylor of Redondo Beach in the Round of 128 on Monday at 9 a.m.

Radeva is ranked No. 19 in Southern California in girls’ 18 singles, while Walters is No. 22. The draw for their tournament at the Claremont Resort & Spa in Berkeley, which begins Sunday, will not be published until Saturday. Lauren Albanese, who has since gone pro and played for the Newport Beach Breakers this summer, was the 2006 girls’ 18s champion.
