Pacific View seeks consent to build ‘family mausoleums’

Because of a shift in customer demand, Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar is asking Newport Beach for permission to build six smaller “family mausoleums” instead of the planned one larger community mausoleum.

The city Planning Commission will consider the request Thursday. Terraced “estate gardens” also would be added around the six smaller buildings. Pacific View officials altered the project to answer concerns of residents in Spyglass Hill, which overlooks the cemetery.

The Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at 3300 Newport Blvd. For information or to view the agenda, visit www.city.newport-beach.ca.us.
