Former OCC receiver

earns Arena accolade

Former Orange Coast College football standout Chris Jackson, a receiver for the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League, was named first-team All-AFL after leading the team to a 14-2 record and the Southern Division championship.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder, who has played eight seasons in the Arena League, including five with the Los Angeles Avengers, established single-season career highs for receptions (145), receiving yards (1,915) and receiving touchdowns (47) in his third season with the Force.

Jackson, who did not play football at Mater Dei High, where he starred in basketball and track and field, led OCC with 37 receptions for 743 yards in 1994.

He played two seasons at Washington State in 1996-97 before failed attempts to make the NFL rosters of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1998), Seattle Seahawks (1998-99), Tennessee Titans (2000), Green Bay Packers (2002) and Miami Dolphins (2003).

He was named AFL Rookie of the Year in 2000 and was the league’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2003, when he had 117 receptions for 1,737 yards an 46 touchdowns.
