Approaching the first day of the 2007-08 year, Aug. 27, the school boasts a nearly 11% boost over last year’s enrollment according to Enrollment Services’ numbers.

“I believe our growth probably lies in part-time, older students,” said Nancy Kidder, dean of enrollment services.

Monday’s figures showed 20,336 students enrolled at OCC for the fall semester, nearly 2,000 more than this time last year. The school added 128 sections this semester, and some are still open, Kidder said. OCC is offering 2,224 class sections this fall.

Tying in with increased enrollment, total credits hours taken, total units taken, and total seats occupied are all up roughly 8 percent, respectively, the figures showed.

The school expects to enroll more than 25,000 people through the semester, taking into account students who will enroll for mid-semester classes.
