Students learn filmmaking at college

Eleven students received Filmmaking with Final Cut Pro Level One certification at Laguna College of Art & Design Aug. 1.

The mix of high school students and teachers, college students and professors took part in the first class of its kind, creating their own movies while preparing for certification in the intensive three-week summer production workshop.

Films included expressive visual poetry, personal artistic narratives, science fiction scenarios, green screen experiments, an expressionistic Thailand adventure and a horror movie trailer, “Pageant of the Zombies.”

Wendy Milette, a graduate of USC School of Cinematic Arts and the director of the MY HERO Film Festival, instructed the class.

As an Apple Authorized Training Center, the college will now be offering Apple Certified Pro training classes on an ongoing basis. This fall, two Final Cut Pro Level One Certification courses are scheduled: Oct. 9 to 12 and Nov. 13 to 16.
