The fifth annual Swim for Life Foundation event will take place at 10 a.m. Sept. 16 at Corona del Mar’s main beach.

Participation is free and open to swimmers of all ages.

The public is invited to swim alongside former Olympians including Janet Evans (’88, ’92 and ’96 Olympics), Erich Fischer (’92 Olympics) and Bruce Furniss (’76 Olympics).

Chad Hundeby, 11, who holds the world record for swimming the English channel, and legendary Newport Beach lifeguard and open water master Buddy Belshe, 73, will also take to the water in support of the “Safer 3” program — safer water, safer kids and safer response.

This year’s theme for the 1.5 mile swim is “Drowning Prevention is Everybody’s Business,” and participants under the age of 15 must swim with a parent or adult “buddy.”

For more information or to register, call Cindy Johnson at (714) 227-6000. Registration must be completed by Sept. 9.
