Vanguard appoints new vice president of academic affairs

Vanguard University has appointed Carol Taylor as the new provost and vice president of academic affairs, the college announced Monday.

Taylor is the top-ranking senior administrator after the president and is the chief academic officer for Vanguard, representing the academic office of the president’s cabinet.

“With Carol at the helm of the academic house, I believe that we are positioned to continue our march toward excellence through her deeply embedded sense of Christian spirituality

and her commitment to the mission and core values of the university,” said Vanguard President Murray Dempster.

Before arriving at Vanguard, Taylor served as vice provost for undergraduate education at Biola University, a Christian college in La Mirada. She succeeds Russel Spittler, who was Vanguard provost for four years.

“There is much to do, and I have a joyful expectancy for what God has in store as we partner together in fulfilling the mission of Vanguard to pursue knowledge, cultivate character, deepen faith and equip our students for a life of leadership and service,” Taylor said.
