Robinson hungry to make it on Detroit’s final roster

Two weeks from picking up Popeyes orders for teammates, Ramzee Robinson will find out if the Detroit Lions will pick up the tab.

On his contract of course.

The last player chosen in the NFL Draft is trying to make it in Detroit. Mr. Irrelevant, the name going to the 255th pick, wants to be relevant.

Tonight is the time to show that the cornerback is before the Lions start the regular season. Robinson said in his journal on the Lions’ website that the last preseason game at home against the Buffalo Bills “is for all the marbles.”

“I’m definitely not going to sleep tonight because I know I’m going to have a lot of opportunities to make plays and make a name for myself,” the 5-foot-10, 190-pounder wrote in his Wednesday entry. “I’m happy about my performance through the first three games. I felt like I got better each game and now the stage is really set.”

“I can say, put it on record now that I’m going to play hard, I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to take a big herd of animals to run me over to get me off the field. I’m really going to have to just break two legs or something because I’m not coming out — I’m going to leave it all out there.”

Robinson has come a long way from Huntsville, Ala., from playing for storied University of Alabama to being celebrated during Mr. Irrelevant Week XXXII in Newport Beach to now the NFL spotlight.

Those Popeyes orders, what was inside, will make sense to Robinson tonight. He’ll experience what it’s like to run around like a chicken. He’s hoping his head won’t get cut off.
