Al Frink, a Newport Beach resident who formerly served on the board of directors of the YMCA of Orange County Metro Chapter, will be honored at the YMCA’s 32nd annual Reach Out Awards in Costa Mesa.

The awards, to be presented Oct. 12 at the Costa Mesa Hilton, honor individuals and businesses who have reached out to needy children and families in Orange County. Frink served with the local YMCA until 2005, when President Bush appointed him as the first Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing and Services for the U.S. Department of Commerce.

“We are so pleased to be recognizing Al — a local business leader, a national public servant, and someone who cares deeply about our community,” Kristen Thompson, executive director of the YMCA Community Services Branch, said in a news release. “Al joins a distinguished list of visionaries and philanthropists who have committed to raising the profile of Community Services Branch programs, and the needs of the thousands of Orange County residents they help.”
