Football season begins

It’s safe to say, Corona del Mar High has Laguna Beach’s number when it comes to football.

The Sea Kings won for the ninth straight time over the Breakers, 26-6, in their season opener at Laguna Beach. CdM quarterback Hunter Alder secured the dominance, passing for 256 yards and three touchdowns, as he connected on 22 of his 35 throws.

Estancia’s season opener did not go as smoothly as the Sea Kings’. Eagles’ first-year coach Mike Bargas lost in his debut, 35-6, to Aquinas of San Bernardino at Newport Harbor.

In other action, Sage Hill School defeated visiting Fairmont Prep, 30-26.

Costa Mesa lost, 62-7, to Savanna at Orange Coast College.
