Yard House opens new location at Fashion Island

Yard House, a casual dining restaurant chain based in Irvine, opened its 17th location Sunday at Fashion Island.

The chain, know for its claim to have the largest selection of draft beers in the world, launched its first restaurant in 1996 along the Long Beach waterfront. Over the years, Yard House has received accolades such as the Hot Concept! award by Nation’s Restaurant News. The company also was ranked among the Top 50 Fastest Growing Full Service Chains by Restaurant Hospitality. Yard House’s new, 8,000 square-foot restaurant at Fashion Island is one of three new locations it plans to launch over the next six months. The restaurant chain recently announced is partnership with TSG Consumer Partners L.L.C., a private equity investor in the consumer sector.

Hurley to launch ‘Sound and Vision’ film series

The Costa Mesa-based Hurley International clothing company will launch a new series of surf films worldwide this week called “Sound and Vision: Volume 1.” The first film in the series will be shown at the Boost Mobile Pro of Surf on Saturday at the Pier in Huntington Beach.

Each 15 to 20 minute episode will profile Hurley team surfers, including one of Australia’s top surfers Yadin Nicol.

The first film in the series will follow Nicol as he prepares for the World Championship tour, featuring music by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.

“Our surfers’ experiences are such a big part of who they are — both as competitors and as people, said Kevin Meehan, Hurley International vice president of marketing. ”With the ‘Sound and Vision’ series, we’re giving fans a better understanding of what these guys are all about.”
