Wines of the World fundraiser has silent auction

The Newport-Mesa Assistance League has been chosen as the beneficiary of the CM900 and Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce’s annual fundraiser, “Wines of the World: Wine and Food Tasting,” from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at South Coast Plaza Village.

The wine and food tasting will feature 45 domestic and imported wines from Levendi, Trefethen, Costa Mesa’s Thompkin Cellars and Kilikanoon from Australia.

Antonello Ristorante, Royal Khyber Fine Indian Cuisine, The Cannery and Morton’s are some of the South Coast Metro restaurants providing food samples.

The afternoon will include live music, a live and silent auction, and an appearance by sommelier Michael Jordan from Napa Rose restaurant.

Raffle tickets for $25 to win an all-inclusive, 7-day, Kona, Hawaii, vacation package can be purchased in advance or at the event.

The Assistance League supports philanthropic programs for children and families in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa with proceeds from its thrift shop, Treasures on Consignment store, grants and fundraising events.

CM900’s members are local business people affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce, and its programs include funding college scholarships for graduates of the Alternative Learning Center and providing food for Thanksgiving dinners to families at the Shalimar Learning Center.

Tickets are $75. Advance reservations are recommended; tickets will be available the day of the event.
