Rodman manager targets accuser

The manager of former NBA player and part-time Newport Beach resident Dennis Rodman said Wednesday a woman who accused the star of spanking her in a Dana Point bar punched Rodman in the chest before the alleged incident and asked him to expose his genitals.

“She was saying she was like Erin Brockovich and she’s brought law firms to their knees,” said Darren Prince, of Prince Marketing Group, who has represented Rodman for the past 10 years.

Prince said he has been talking to witnesses who were at Hennessey’s Tavern in Dana Point the night Rodman allegedly slapped the woman on the buttocks.

The woman, whose name has not been released by authorities, filed a sexual battery complaint about 9:30 p.m. Sept. 16 with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department after meeting the star at the tavern.

Prince claims the woman asked Rodman to pull down his pants and show her his genitals, punched him in the chest before the alleged slap and gave him her phone number before leaving the bar.

“Why would she give him her phone number if he sexually assaulted her?” Prince said. “Dennis is really upset.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has not been able to track down Rodman for an interview, said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

“A man had slapped a woman on an intimate part of the body, we can say that, but we can’t say who because we haven’t interviewed them yet,” Amormino said.

Hennessey’s Tavern staff declined to comment on the incident Wednesday.

Rodman has had numerous run-ins with the law during his residency in Newport Beach.

The former NBA star sold his well-known party house on Seashore Drive in 2004 and moved to Huntington Beach, but returned to Newport Beach in 2005.

He now splits his time between Newport Beach and Miami, Prince said.

Rodman’s 50-foot yacht, “Sexual Chocolate,” once was impounded near Woody’s Wharf for using a private dock without permission.

Rodman won a civil court case in 2003 in which a woman claimed he drugged, raped and imprisoned her in his Newport Beach home.

The woman claimed she met Rodman at his now-closed Newport Beach restaurant.
