Estancia def. Ocean View

COSTA MESA — While watching Ocean View during the pre-match warm ups Thursday, Estancia High Coach Jim Huffman thought the Eagles were going to have their hands full.

They didn’t as they swept Ocean View for the second straight year, with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-11 nonleague victory at home.

“We were 1-6 against them the last five years,” said Huffman, a fifth-year coach. “They were pretty tall.”

The Eagles (8-2) found ways to score. Middle blocker Maddie Stack and outside hitter Annie Tomasek each finished with 10 kills and middle blocker Olivia Schow had a match-high nine service aces.

“She has a jump serve that is scary,” said Huffman of Schow.

Estancia will play in the La Jolla Tournament today and Saturday. The first of four matches scheduled today is against Mountain View of Arizona at 4:30 p.m.
