Brentwood Invitational

BRENTWOOD — Sage Hill School won both the boys’ and girls’ divisions on Saturday at Brentwood School.

The boys swept the top three spots in the 14-school race, with Sean McElroy (15 minutes, 48 seconds), Lion Wintemute (16:02) and Connor Rose (16:23) doing the honors. Kyle Simon was 15th in a personal-best time of 17:38, while Alex Jimenez’ 28th-place time of 18:20 was also a personal-best.

On the girls’ side, Cait Williamson won the race with a personal-best time of 18:11, and teammate Katie McKeon (20:14) was fourth. Jackie Dion (21:08) placed night, Megan Culberson (a personal-best 22:39) was 18th and Megan Kim placed 21st in another personal-best time of 22:58.

Yucaipa Invitational

YUCAIPA — The Estancia High boys won the Division III race, while the girls placed third Saturday at Yucaipa High.

For the Eagles boys, junior Fernando Orozco was second on the three-mile course in 16 minutes, 19 seconds. Jorge Martin placed fifth in 16:33, while Wes Barloon was ninth in 16:43.

Cesar Casillas placed 15th in 17:08, which Estancia Coach Charlie Appell said is over a minute improvement from Casillas’ time two weeks ago. Damion Leon was 33rd in 17:55, while Willie Rodriguez placed 74th in 19:30.

Junior Eunice Rodriguez finished ninth for the Estancia girls in 20:29, and teammate Sindy Ramirez was 11th in 20:44. Alejandra Peralta finished 22nd (21:26), Alexa Aguilar (22:29) placed 39th. Kathy Fuentes finished 41st in 22:52, followed closely by Brianna Valencia (22:53) in 42nd.

Newport Harbor 13,

University 7

NEWPORT BEACH — Senior Clinton Jorth had five goals and three steals for the Sailors in a nonleague game Saturday.

David Linden had four goals and Colin McKibbin added three for Newport (9-1), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division I.

Mother McAuley Tournament

CHICAGO — The Corona del Mar High volleyball team beat Gross Catholic High to win the silver consolation title, placing 11th overall Saturday.

The Sea Kings (7-6) also lost to Downers Grove North, 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, and beat Sandburg, 25-23, 16-25, 25-18.

In the win over Gross Catholic, Chelsea Dalton had six kills. Kara Chatham and Sydney Brombal each had 11 digs, Claire Ham had two solo blocks and Madie Smith had 25 assists.

Against Downers Grove North, Ashley Pries had 19 digs, and Conley Kipp added nine kills and two solo blocks. Jamie Lawson had three service aces and Smith dished out 31 assists.
