A man allegedly found inside Nicolas Cage’s home, wearing nothing but one of the actor’s jackets, entered a not guilty plea to one charge of first-degree burglary in Orange County District Court Tuesday.

Newport Beach police received a call at 1:27 a.m. Monday from a Bayshore complex security guard, stating that the movie star had detained a man in his home, said Lt. Craig Fox.

Cage, who lives at John Wayne’s previous estate, awoke early Monday morning and found a strange man in his home, police said.

Cage escorted the man out of his home and police found him — nude — in the actor’s back yard at about 2 a.m., Fox said. Detectives also found a 2007 Toyota Avalon belonging to the suspect near Cage’s residence, Fox said.

Officers arrested Robert Dennis Furo, 45, of San Pedro, on suspicion of residential burglary. He was taken to Newport Beach Jail and booked on $50,000 bail, police said.

Furo’s pretrial hearing is set for Oct. 10 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach. He is being held in Orange County Jail on an increased bail of $100,000, district prosecutors said.
