Chargers field hockey, Oilers girls’ tennis post wins

A goal in the opening 30 seconds Oct. 4 set the tone for Edison in its Sunset League girls’ field hockey match against Fountain Valley, and the Chargers built on that quick strike to go on to post a 5-0 victory over the Barons.

Senior Karisa Sadler netted the first goal just 30 seconds into the match to conclude a scoring drive started by senior Chelsea Flynn who dribbled the ball the length of the field and then crossed to Sadler who reversed the ball and then slapped it in.

Midway through the first half, sophomore Heather Apodaca scored off a rebound to make it 2-0 at the break.

Apodaca, Sadler and senior Kelsey Hwang all scored in the second half.

Junior keeper Danielle Herrington needed just one save to get a shutout orchestrated by the defense of Bianca Sanchez, Blair Boies, Megan Duehring and Torrey Allen.
