Oilers route Raiders, 36-0

The Huntington Beach Oilers picked up their fourth win in five Jr. Pee Wee Division outings Saturday as they routed the Rowland Heights Raiders, 36-0.

Nolan Winks scored on a quarterback keeper to get the Huntington offense in gear. Grant Peugh rushed for a touchdown, Maurice Barber scored on a pass from Trevor Diehl and later returned an interception for 60 yards for another score. Gavin Ryan-Massa rushed for the final touchdown, and Dylan Zeglovitch made key runs.

The line play of Eric Parra, Josh Marks, Tristan Wenschlag, Andrew Orozco and Dakoda Quinn paved the way for a big offensive game for the Oilers.

Derek Haab, Sklyer Pavloff and Craig Dean defensively shut down the Raiders.

The Oilers (4-1) host the Carson Colts at 1 p.m. Saturday at Huntington Beach High.

Huntington 41, Rowland Heights 0

The Black Oilers ran their win streak to three games when they trounced the Raiders.

Anthony DeLaTorre rushed for a pair of scores and Josh Crooks, Jackson McCleery, Nick Welch and Jeremy Romash each scored once in Huntington’s dominating performance.

Nathan Partch, Alec Morales, Evan Smith, Jake Armstrong, Bryce Klett and Jacob Flores provided solid blocking on the offensive line for the Black Oilers. Defensively, McCleery, Crooks, Shane Martinez and Ethan Redira repeatedly got into the Raiders backfield. Top tacklers included Josh Hadlock and Shane Hammer with two tackles for loss, and Nathan Teves was all over the field.

Huntington hosts the Carson Colts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huntington Beach High.

Future League

Huntington 24, Newport Mesa 0

Zachary Italisano, Joshua Sims and Treyce Warren led a staunch defense, and Mitchell Myers and Ryan Welander made key contributions on offense, as the Oilers raced past the Seahawks.

On Saturday, Huntington will travel to Dana Point for a 9:30 a.m. game against the South Coast Patriots.
