FULLERTON — Freshman outside hitter Kari Pestolesi pounded 23 kills, sophomore setter Taryn Robertson had 52 assists and junior libero Devon Southerland had 29 digs, all match highs, to lead the Anteaters to the 30-24, 16-30, 32-30, 30-28 Big West Conference road triumph Thursday.

Senior middle blocker Kristin Kelley added 12 kills, while fellow middles Chelsea Ellis and Shannon Homan combined for 14 kills and both hit better than .400 for the winners (15-6, 5-1 in conference).

UCI remains tied atop the Big West with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which will visit Crawford Court Saturday at 7 p.m.

Pestolesi matched her career high for kills.

Fullerton posted a 17-6 advantage in team blocking and hit .236 to the Anteaters’ .188 clip.

But UCI won the digging battle, 91-69 and had three fewer service errors (11) than the Titans (8-9, 3-3).

Jennifer Franciso and Brittany Moore had 16 kills apiece for Cal State Fullerton, who also recieved 12 kills from Erin Saddler and 10 from Alex Wolnisty.

Biola def. Vanguard

COSTA MESA — Senior outside hitter Kim Wynn had a match-high 21 kills for the Lions, but the visiting Eagles posted a 30-24, 30-11, 22-30, 26-30, 15-13, Golden State Athletic Conference win Thursday.

Wynn hit .365, while sophomore Kelsey Wirt added 12 kills for Vanguard (6-10, 4-7 in conference).

Maggie McGill led three players in double figures with 13 kills for Biola (17-3, 9-3).

Meghan Walsh had 35 assists for the Lions, who received 23 digs from Wirt.
