Costa Mesa (10-7) was paced by senior Skyler Twohig, who had two goals.

Twohig scored seven to lead the Mustangs to an 18-6 win in pool play earlier Saturday.

Junior Cody Serrano had three goals, while junior Dustin Serrano, junior Garrett Frazier and senior Gabe Sanchez had two apiece.

Costa Mesa and Sage Hill meet Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. at Costa Mesa in a key Orange Coast League game.

Costa Mesa needs a win to join Sage Hill in second place, behind Laguna Beach. In the event the two teams remain tied (Sage won the first meeting in league), they would play a one-game playoff to determine the four-team league’s second entry into the CIF Southern Section playoffs.
