Orange Coast def. Riverside

RIVERSIDE — Jacqi Reed had 18 kills and Emily Lyon added 41 assists to lead the Pirates to a 30-16, 30-27, 30-27 Orange Empire Conference victory Wednesday.

Kayla Cutler added 19 digs for OCC (11-2, 5-1), the two-time defending state champion.

The Pirates play at Irvine Valley, which is undefeated, Friday at 5 p.m. to end the first round of conference play.

COSTA MESA — Scott Falkner’s goal in the eighth minute proved to be the game-winner for the Lions in a Golden State Athletic Conference match Wednesday.

Falkner goal came off a corner kick from Tom Culver.

Goalkeeper Trevor Herrera had one save and recorded the shutout for Vanguard (8-5, 3-4 in conference). Cal Baptist dropped to 6-7-1, 2-5.
