NCAA hires Chichester

Former UC Irvine Athletic Director Bob Chichester has been hired as director of membership services by the NCAA.

Chichester, who resigned in June after five years of running the UCI athletic department, will help Division I schools develop Academic Progress Rate improvement plans and oversee initial eligibility waivers.

UCI DUO HONORED

UC Irvine senior Brian Brierly and junior Megan Fairley were both named the Big West Conference Athletes of the Week in cross country.

Brierly posted a time of 26:31 over 8,000 meters to place him 14th out of 62 runners, and the Anteaters took second at the Titan Invitational on Friday.

Fairley finished 10th out of 90 runners with a time of 18:56 over 5,000 meters.
