Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead on Amanda Stark’s goal that was set up by the downfield dribble and cross by Erika Faria.

Just before the first half ended, Faria scored off a crossing pass from Kelsey Wetzstein to give the locals a 2-0 lead at the break.

Kelsea Arenando posted a goal in the second half to complete the scoring.

Keana Collier and Abby O’Toole combined in the net to earn the shutout.

Wolfpack 6, Tustin Premier 0

On Sunday, the Wolverines overcame an early start — 8 a.m. — and winds that reached 40 miles per hour, to shut down host Tustin Premier.

The Wolverines struck right away. Forward Kaela Blanco took the opening kick downfield past several Premier defenders and scored the first goal.

Blanco went on to score on two more breakaways in half to register a hat trick as Wolfpack opened up a 3-0 lead.

Abby O’Toole needed just one save in the first half, as defenders Laney Ehlers, Taylor Oliver and Shelle Zito kept the ball out of the Wolfpack side of the field.

In the second half, forward Erika Faria took a breakaway downfield and scored, forward Katie Lespier raced past several Premier defenders and scored from the corner, and the final goal was posted by midfielder Kelsey Wetzstein.

Valerie Stark, Brittney Stevens and Skylar Wilson also made key contributions to the victory.

In improving to 7-0, Wolfpack has shutout six of its seven opponents.
