Rodman accuser cancels charges

A woman who alleged former NBA star and part-time Newport Beach resident Dennis Rodman spanked her in a Dana Point bar has declined to move forward with the case and has refused to press charges, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.

The woman, whose name has not been released, filed a sexual battery complaint against Rodman Sept. 16. She alleged Rodman slapped her on the buttocks at Hennessey’s Tavern in Dana Point. The woman dropped her complaint against Rodman earlier this week, said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Rodman splits his time between Miami and Newport Beach, Rodman’s manager Darren Prince told the Daily Pilot in September. Prince said last month the woman punched Rodman in the chest at the bar, asked him to pull down his pants and gave him her phone number before the alleged incident.

The sheriff’s department never officially released Rodman’s name in connection with the complaint because he was never arrested or charged in connection with the case.
