Del Walker Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH — UC Irvine finished tied with Houston for fourth place in the event completed Friday at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.

Sophomore John Chin led UCI with a fourth-place finish, shooting four-under-par 209 (67-71-71).

Colorado State claimed the team title with an 11-under 841 in a 12-team field and Roberto Galletti of Arizona was the medalist with a three-round total of nine-under 204.

Sean Shahi was seventh at 210 (74-68-68) and Bryan Harris placed 20th at 214 (71-69-74) for the Anteaters.

Tim Cha was 26th at 216 (72-72-72), Kenny Kim finished 49th at 221 (71-77-73) and Shaun O’Meara was 69th at 232 (79-75-78) for UCI.

The Anteaters will return to action Nov. 5 in the University of Hawaii Turtle Bay Intercollegiate, a two-day tournament at the Turtle Bay Resort.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Orange Coast def. Cypress

CYPRESS — Orange Coast College swept Cypress, 30-14, 30-19, 30-27, in Orange Empire Conference play Friday.

Jacqi Reed led the team with 15 kills, while Jessica Roy and Christina Richards each finished with 10 for the Pirates, the two-time defending state champions.

Deirdre Siapai had 21 digs for Orange Coast (14-3, 7-2 in conference) as Cypress fell to 6-14, 2-7.

OCC setter Emily Lyon added 42 assists.

The Pirates will play at Fullerton Wednesday at 6 p.m. Both teams are tied for second place in the conference.
