The Orange County Trial Lawyers Assn. raised more than $25,000 for disabled veterans at its annual awards dinner and auction in Costa Mesa.

The Friday event, which honored five attorneys as “Top Gun” Trial Lawyers of the Year, diverted proceeds to Homes for Heroes and Foundations for Families, a Habitat for Humanity pilot program that provides homes to veterans and their families.

The association raises money for charity every year at its awards dinner, which was held Friday at the Turnip Rose restaurant.

“This money will assist the veterans in reaching goals that we all share for our families,” stated Keith More, president-elect of the association. “We believe that one of the greatest homecomings we can provide for the disabled service members during a time of war is the security of owning their own home and the freedoms that derive from a stable home environment for their families.”

The Homes for Heroes program, the first Habitat for Humanity initiative that specifically assists veterans, encompasses 14 homes in Orange County.
