Possible attempted burglary under investigation

Costa Mesa Police are investigating what may be an attempted burglary after neighbors reported spotting a couple trying to pry their way into an apartment patio door in the 1000 block of South Coast Drive, authorities said.

The pair, a man and women in their 30s, were seen by a neighbor who was returning home at roughly 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said. While the woman worked on the back sliding door in an enclosed patio, the man jumped over the fence and tried to distract the neighbor.

The pair, probably scared off by the encounter, were seen running off by two maintenance workers at the complex, Epperson said.

The woman, 30-years old, had shoulder-length blond hair, measured at 5-foot-6, 135 pounds. She was wearing a pink blouse and had a tattoo on her back right shoulder, police said.
