Surf-themed event raised thousands for hospital
The “Rock for CHOC” fundraiser at the Harborside Pavilion Restaurant in Newport Beach Saturday night raised more than $85,000 for children’s programs and services at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
The surf-themed event was emceed by local real estate developer Jeffrey John Bitetti, who was also the opening act, along with fellow guitarist Rickey Lewis, for the legendary rock band HONK.
In addition to ticket sales and donations, proceeds from a silent auction featuring skateboards, wine baskets, jewelry and vacation packages added to the evening’s total.
Guest speaker Dr. Anthony Chang, director of CHOC’s Pediatric Heart Institute, shared information on the hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
He also presented event co-chair Mary Lynn Gaddis with a red crystal heart in appreciation for her volunteer time and service.
