RETAIL ROUNDUP:

Those who frequented the Commissary urban clothing store at The Camp alternative shopping center may have been disappointed when the store held a moving sale the last week of October — but as it turns out, Commissary only moved to a larger spot across the street at The Lab, The Camp’s sister location.

In other Camp news, the Adventure 16 outdoor store has its annual holiday sale coming up, as the store will offer a 20% to 50% discount on a number of items from Nov. 16 through Dec. 9. Manager Rolf Abro said popular purchases this time of year include aromatic candles, winter camping equipment and cabin bedding.

“Holiday shopping usually starts after Thanksgiving, but we get going a week ahead of time,” he said.

SHOP UNIQUE TO O.C.

South Coast Plaza isn’t just getting a new women’s boutique this month. It’s also getting a catchy statistic.

The mall, which has long prided itself on getting retailers before anyone else in the region does, plans to open the Intermix boutique Nov. 17. The chain has about a dozen locations in Florida, Texas and elsewhere — and when it opens its latest spot this month, it will be exactly the 111th Orange County exclusive store at South Coast Plaza.

Intermix is one of seven stores slated to open at South Coast Plaza over the next few months. The mall’s public relations office also announced the Hamamori Restaurant-Lounge, which is scheduled for early December; the boutiques Calvin Klein, Canali and AG Adriano Goldschmied, set for winter 2008; and a Rolex watch flagship store and a Harry Winston jeweler for the spring.

Dining guide hits tables

The Newport Beach Restaurant Assn. has published its 2008 Newport Beach Dining Guide, a paperback book that chronicles eateries across one of Orange County’s top culinary cities.

The free book is available at a number of hotels, City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Conference and Visitors Bureau.

The guide lists restaurants according to cuisine type and lists prices as well. Among the new restaurants in the guide this year are Zov’s Bistro, Heron’s, Chronic Tacos, the Bella Luna Cafe, and Fury Rok and Rol Sushi.

“We’ve had a lot of new establishments open in the last year and a half or so in the community, and basically, that’s why we have to republish it all the time,” said Peggy Fort, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Restaurant Assn.
