SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — UC Irvine junior Candice Proctor finished 26th in 21 minutes, 8.90 seconds over the 6,000-meter course to help the Anteaters women’s team finish 14th Saturday at the Springfield Golf Club.

The UCI men were 20th.

Junior Laura Olvera was 43rd in 21:30.50, while senior Sara Mickelson (71st in 21:54.20), junior Samantha Costantini (119th in 22:37.70), freshman Katherine Nielsen (127th in 22:44.70), junior Lauren Chramosta (161st in 23:22.60), and senior Amber Gordon (163rd in 23:24.70) also competed for UCI.

Junior Nick Mosey (60th in 31:42.10 over 10,000 meters) led UCI with men, who also included senior Sky Johnston (90th in 32:27.45), sophomore Colin Hacker (116th in 33:06.40), sophomore Rusty Whisman (144th in 34:02.00), senior George Morris placed (145th in 34:03.10), freshman Victor Bonilla (162nd in 34:52.05) and senior Adrian Doty (163rd in 34:54.80).

Stanford won the women’s title and the Oregon men were victorious.

WALNUT — The Pirates made 16 of 33 three-point attempts to cruise in the semifinals of the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament Saturday.

Sophomore Katie Kissee made five three-pointers and led the winners with 18 points, while sophomore Courtney Ford’s 17 points included three three-pointers.

Freshman Casey Gomez also had three three-pointers and matched freshman Simone Ibbotson with 11 points each to join sophomore teammate Erin Barney (13) in double figures for the Pirates.

The Pirates (3-0), who meet Fresno City in the championship game Monday at 3:15 p.m., made 20 of 40 two-point field-goal tries to finish 36 of 73 from the field (49.3%).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

IRVINE — Freshman outside hitter Kari Pestolesi had a match-high 19 kills in UCI’s 25-30, 30-24, 31-29, 30-22 Big West Conference victory Saturday at Crawford Court.

The win assured the Anteaters (20-9, 10-4 in conference) of at least a third-place finish in the Big West, with just two matches to go.

Pestolesi also had a team-high 19 digs for the hosts. Senior middle blocker Kristin Kelley had 16 kills and five block assists, while sophomore setter Taryn Robertson tallied 56 assists.

Junior outside hitter Lauren Kellerman and sophomore middle blocker Chelsea Ellis each had 11 kills for UCI.

Corona del Mar High product Kasey Kipp had three kills and a team-high three block assists for UC Santa Barbara.

The Gauchos dropped to 10-17, 5-9.

UC Irvine will play against UC Santa Barbara again on Friday night at 7 in Santa Barbara.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

TUCSON, Ariz. — The UC Irvine men’s and women’s teams were swept by No. 4-ranked Arizona and the UCI women also lost to No. 14 UCLA in action Saturday at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

The UC Irvine men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams were swept by No. 4 Arizona 179-106 for the men and 181-99 for the women. The UCI women also lost 199.5-98.5 to No. 14 UCLA Saturday at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

Sophomore Lyndsay DePaul won the 200-yard butterfly (1 minute, 58.83 seconds) in an NCAA “A” cut time. DePaul also won the 500 freestyle (4:51.94). She set school records in both events.

DePaul finished second in the 200 individual medley with a “B” cut time of 2:01.44.

Senior Chelsea Nagata won the 100 backstroke (55.83) and the 100 fly (54.73). Both of Nagata’s times are NCAA “B” cut times.

The women lost to Arizona, 181-99 and fell to UCLA, 199.5-98.5.

Senior Eddie Erazo won the 200 fly (1:48.23) for the Anteaters men, who lost, 179-106 to the host Wildcats.

The Anteaters will next compete at the UCI/Nike Cup Thursday through Nov. 18 at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine Fall Classic

IRVINE — The Anteaters’ Jessica Broadfoot and Rebecca Kwan advanced as a doubles team, and both players also advanced in singles in the tournament Saturday at UCI.

Broadfoot, a senior, and Kwan, a freshman, defeated a team from Loyola Marymount, 8-4, in doubles.

In singles, Broadfoot handled Anne Fagegaltier of New Mexico State, 6-2, 6-2, while Kwan got by Stephanie Eusebe of New Mexico State, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.

The UCI team of juniors Ali Borowicz and Heidi Kaloi also advanced in doubles for the ’Eaters, as did the team of senior Lisa Shih and freshman Ali Welliver.

In singles, freshman Brooke Bartlett also advanced for the Anteaters.

The tournament concludes today, with play beginning at 9 a.m.

MEN’S WATER POLO

HUNTINGTON BEACH – Casey Satchell and Jared Yocum both scored two goals for the Pirates in the Southern California Championships on Friday at Golden West College.

Orange Coast had a 3-2 lead after the first quarter but was outscored, 6-2, from there.

Joe Krone also scored for the Pirates, who end their season at 14-7.
