Nobel laureate and professor Frank Sherwood Rowland will address the Friends of the Newport Coast annual meeting Tuesday.

The address, scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m. at the Newport Coast Community Center, will touch upon the “Regional Effects of Global Warming.” There is no admission cost, and refreshments will be served.

Rowland, a professor of chemistry at UCI, is well-known for his discovery that CFCs, once common in products like hair spray and cleaning solvents, contributed to the depletion of the ozone layer in 1974. He was awarded a Nobel Prize in 1995.
