Candle shop hosts holiday fun for kids

Pure Light, a new nature-inspired candle and gathering studio at 821 Laguna Canyon Road, will host its first annual holiday kids event. The program, “Kids’ Gifts from the Heart,” is for children of all ages and will be feature 13 days of special activities focused on creativity, kindness and wellness.

Kids’ candle making kicks off the creative gift-making series. “Kids love the sensory experience of making their very own candles,” store owner Judy Kelly said. “They love to touch the wax, smell the fragrances, pick out different designs and shapes to insert, and watch their candles being poured with hot wax.”

Pure Light also presents Mini Yogis founder Shana Meyerson who will teach a Dec. 1 class in Pure Light’s ceremony room. Kids will learn the Yogi Pokey and try poses like Downward Dog and the Tree.

After Mini Yogis, the kids will be treated to raw foods by Chef Jenny, the owner and executive chef at 118 Degrees restaurant at The Camp in Costa Mesa.

She will invite the kids to help her make smoothies with special ingredients like mango, kale leaves, agave and coconut water.

Youth shelter helping kids with ‘wish list’

Pure Light and the Festival Center also have partnered with the Community Service Program Laguna Beach Youth Shelter. They invite the public to help make this a special holiday season for all the children staying at the shelter.

Pure Light has created ornaments with each child’s name, age and holiday wish list written on them.

The ornaments will be hung on a tree located in the back of the Center and the public is encouraged to drop by, choose an ornament off the tree and to purchase gifts on the wish list. The gifts can be dropped off at any of the shops in the Center and will be delivered by Dec. 20. For more information or to register, call (949) 376-7200 or visit www.purelightcompany.com.
