List of thanks between bites

Kindergartners at Paularino Elementary got an early taste of Thanksgiving Tuesday when parent volunteers organized a Thanksgiving feast with all the fixins.

There was turkey (lunch meat), cranberry sauce, rolls, vegetables, pumpkin pie and juice.

The kids donned appropriate attire — pilgrim hats, bonnets and Native American headbands all made of construction paper.

And of course, the 5- and 6-year-olds remembered what they were thankful for.

“I’m thankful for toys and food and my mom and my dad and my home and my friends,” said Fatima Burke, her mouth covered with whipped cream from the pumpkin pie.

“I’m thankful for food,” said Ryan Juncker between bites of his roll.

Others were more specific.

“I’m thankful for my Grandpa Pete,” said 5-year-old Tevani Seanoa, who was too busy eating to elaborate.

Children throughout the district were celebrating Thanksgiving Tuesday, the last school day for the week. Tghe students will return to class Monday.
